Theme 3- Portrait- Canine

Comparing my photograph with a Professional example
-->
My Image
This is a photograph, which I have taken myself. It is of a dog furiously shaking water off of its self. I decided to take this particular photograph because it emphasises the energy that the canine possess, but which a comedic effect in the mix also.
-I would say that there is a sort of comedic effect because it seems like the dog is having a lot of fun with the ears flying around the place etc. I like this feature, as it will interest people much more.  A dog in this position doing this activity is much more eye catching and pleasing to look at than a boring dog sitting down.
- To catch the dog in this particular position with the water spraying everywhere and the ears in movement I switched the camera to the ‘Sport mode’. This was so that I could a maximum shutter speed of 3.7 frames/ photographs per second. This enabled me to get the right moment for this photograph, and also the maximum detail.
- There is exceptionally good detail in this photograph, which allows maximum detail and attention to the dog. By focussing on the dog, I created a more blurred background, which yet again draws attention and maximum detail towards the dog. Also by creating a blurred background it emphasises what I want the audience to look at.
- I believe that the light in this photograph is amazing. The light helps to create more saturated image and a much more eye catching and interesting. Photograph.
- This is quite a simple photograph, which adds to its interest. And I like simple photographs, and not to fond of highly complicated photographs.

Professional Example
-I like this photograph because it is very similar to my photograph but I believe both photographs have good and bad elements.
- I think that the angle at which this photograph has been taken is better than my photo. This angle makes you feel more involved as it is looking almost straight on at the dog. It makes me feel more immersed. I think that my angle just looks more like an observation, and does not make you feel immersed.
- I do like the lighting in the professional example because it makes the Labrador look golden and more realistic. But I do feel that the light that I have in my photograph is better because it looks more alive and colourful. Also because there are much more shadows in my photograph which creates a bit of variation.
- I enjoy the fact that the photographer has captured the specs of water flying around similar to my photograph.
- I also like this photograph because it is exceptionally good detail. This allows the viewer to witness the events in the highest quality possible thus creating a more interesting and more pleasing to the eye.

Conclusion
Overall I believe that these two photographs are exceedingly similar. The lighting, frame, detail and the breed of dog are very closely related. I like both photos because they are both very professionally created.
